Biny

project overview
Biny is an interactive system of paper bins designed to transform everyday waste into a playful learning experience. Created for children at Klub Strand, the project reimagines the bin from a passive object into an active tool for learning sustainability through play, creativity, and collaboration. Grounded in participatory design theory, the project was developed through iterative usability testing, observation, and co-creation with children. All design decisions ranging from architectural illustration and spatial cues to gamified interactions, scoring systems, and visual instructions were purposefully aligned with the project’s goals. This process ensured that the system could be understood, used independently, and enjoyed without adult supervision, embedding sustainable behavior naturally into everyday play
